For all of creation, life was bliss but Abba stepped
Aside, took another look a
t Adam and the gang
And saw the gap: He saw something not so good.
Engrossed with work, Adam saw it not. Committed
To his call, Adam felt it not.
He missed not a thing
But Abba saw, Abba knew and in His time, went
To work to fill the gap. Reaching deep i
nto the side
Of him who once was dust,
He drew forth
The perfection of creation; a
 crafting of grace
Tenderness personified, the c
rown of completion
To His long hard work.
He presented her to Adam
And in such wonder u
ntil then unknown, unfelt
And undeclared, Adam stalled, s
hocked, amazed
Lost for once i
n her gaze, at loss for once in his life.
When at last h
e found his tongue, the man proclaimed,
“This is me! This is like me! This is mine!!!”

Food For Thought: If there is one thing I have learned in my walk with God, it is that God knows us better than we know ourselves. Consequently, God meets our needs better than we or anyone else ever can. Nobody can love us more than God. Nobody can give us more than He has given. Nobody can care for us more than He does. Line up all the above and it can be summarized thus: I need God to understand me and the things that have been provided. It can also mean that we need God to understand others and the provisions God has made in their lives. On our own, we miss and mix things up. We confuse us and them, him and her and me, needs and desires, dreams and realities. Left to ourselves, we confuse the fake and the real. We confuse purpose and timing. We confuse things that are clear and tender inappropriate responses because of misplaced priorities. When we go out of our way to hunt our wants, we are often wounded by other hunters, smarter hunters. We have nothing much to show for our troubles and when we do, they match not what was lost in the pursuit. When we let God meet our needs, we know nothing less than satisfaction; joy overflows its boundaries and in wonder we cannot but lift up our heads and hearts and hands in gratitude to Him who sure surpasses sincere expectations.

Scripture: Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1: 26.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to focus on that which You have committed to me and allow You to find the gaps in my life and service, and fill them to Your praise and glory, amen.
