I had life abundant, I had dominion
Like no other, I had it all. Rolling
Back and forth in pleasure,
I fell at ease
I fell asleep,
lost grip on grace, fell out
Of order a
nd lost the wonderful life.
Death became me when I fell out of grace;
And all of my labor, all of my cravings
All my acquisitions and achievements
Bore stamps of rot despite fancy covers
The stink subduing my fragrant sprays:
Death was me until Life stepped in.

Food For Thought: Many of us have dared the unsanctioned and ended up where we dreaded. We have tried the untried and survived to learn and there are those who did not live to tell their story. We have dared what we clearly knew we shouldn’t, aware or ignorant of consequences. Maybe our attempts were for want of something different. Maybe we just wanted to try the forbidden. Whatever the reasons, we have gone where we ought not to and rather than the expected end that met others, we were spared. We returned. We lived to learn our lessons. We lived to tell the story. Why were we spared and others not? Same question that comes up after disaster strikes even in instances where people were minding their businesses or doing what they knew was right. That is one tough question that plagues through the sanctioned and forbidden, for which we may never find satisfactory answers here. It affirms the fact that some things cannot be explained here. In such instances, the least we can do is to truly learn and share the lessons garnered. We may not be able to explain how we were saved, how we were spared, yet may wisdom guide our subsequent steps and help us learn before it is late.

Scripture: But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. Romans 3: 22.

Prayer: Dear Lord, it is very easy to forget that death was me before You saved me, may I never forget that all I am today, I owe to Your saving grace, amen.
