The day I spit truth out in Eden
Reached for lie, took a bite, enjoyed
And passed it on: I lost taste for truth.
The day I marched out of order
Broke the hedge, stepped across
Had my way, taking the other down
I lost the cover of grace.
The day I gave my ear, picked error
Chewed on it, swallowed
Spread it around: I relinquished glory.
The day I stepped out, met the stranger
Chose him over my Father: I lost my heritage.
The day I lost one was the day I lost all:
Lost in my losses until Truth found me.
Food For Thought: We are a bundle of curiosity. I know I am. They say curiosity kills a cat. Curiosity has led me into many peculiar discoveries, it has also led into troubles. Healthy curiosity is essential if we must progress beyond the known to discover the unknown. Curiosity prods us to dare beyond boarders, reach past everyone else, to keep probing past where theirs’ terminated, to not stop until we find something that makes the adventure worth it. Like a bait, it lures, from one step to another until we end up in that expected surprise. The end is usually extreme. The product of our curious exploits could mark the beginning or the end of of a phase in our lives or even of us. It all depends on the trail we choose for our quest. None of us know the end from the beginning of our lives’ trail. All we know is the final destination of our choice. How to get there, we know not. What lies on the way, we have no clue. Yes we may have the idea that getting there may be easy at some points and challenging at others but in the end, we want to hit home. Beyond those, we know not the path that leads to our dream. Nevertheless, God knows the way and He has left markers along the path, trusted guide for the observant, the willing, and the obedient. If we follow the dictates of our fancies, we are bound to miss the markers and lose our way. The end of that curiosity has been the hurt and the end of many hikers. When we follow the markers and keep to the track, we will make it to destination and enjoy awaiting surprises, amazing discoveries. Without restraint, curiosity ends in destruction. Yet, guided by the Expert, our curiosity births wonders, new beginnings.
Scripture: However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16: 13.
Prayer: Dear Lord, if I followed my ideas, I will self-destroy: guide me by Your Word, Your Word is truth, amen.
