I met many gods in my wandering
I served many gods in my desperation
For salvation. None brought relief
Instead every god I added on my list
Turned another burden that broke
My aching back; demanding, demeaning,
Exacerbating my already ominous state.
My misery endured, waxing more grievous
Because I had no choice, I had no one
I found no way out until the Way found me.
Food For Thought: You may be shocked to discover how many people on earth know what their course in life is or will be. I’m not referring to knowing dates and times of key events of your life, enough to be prepped up for each. I mean how many of us wake up each morning with purpose and walk into each day knowing the way they are to take even if they don’t know where it will end? The majority of humanity is milling about without direction. They stumble into and out of people and places and things, discarding experiences as they move on, totally missing the reason behind each. I am not sure there is anybody on earth equipped with details of their course in life. I am not even sure that our humanity can handle such information. We don’t need to know the end from the beginning in order to do what we ought. All we need is enough for today: “Give us this day our daily bread.” All we need is our now step, we can take the next and the rest in trust. If you know what you should be doing right now, that is enough to start with. What you should do next is always connected to what you are doing now. Many waste resources worrying about the future without realizing that there is no tomorrow without today. Now is the basis of future. What we do today influences our future. If we are obedient and diligent with what is committed to us now, we will realize that now is connected to next like today is linked to tomorrow. As we take the steps we know, the known locates the unknown, the now discovers the next and in the end, we learn that we don’t have to find: we are found, we are helped; we are not and never were alone: Someone guides our steps. You have to take the step you know to find the next you don’t.
Scripture: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14: 6.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I recognize that I cannot save myself, from sin or from anything else for that matter, my salvation is You, my salvation is in You: arise and save me for good O God, amen.
