I know the way to daddy’s heart
I have the key to his treasure trove
But my heavenly Father, who knows
The way to His heart, what is the key
That opens the bosom of Sovereignty?

 

I hear the Spirit of God saying, “Now, take up your tools and go out to the field and take Me a venison and make Me savory meat such as I love and bring it to Me that I may eat and you thee.” Genesis 27: 4. Often, we starve God, then we wonder why our lives are starved of His blessings. It is easy to find our ways around those who are close to us because we know something about them that others don’t. If that knowledge is married to right timing, we walk away drenched in favor. The year is half spent and we have thus far focused on all that touch our hearts and lives. It is time to zero in on the King. It is time to feed the King.

 

The question now is, “What can You give to Him who made and owns it all? What can mortals serve or feed the Creator and Sustainer of all that was, all that is, and all that ever will be?” Does God eat? And if yes, what is His diet like? Does He watch His weight? Can you image a calorie-counting God? Funny.

 

God is Spirit so that answers the questions. And those who serve on His table must be spirits like Him. He is not like our earthly fathers who are thrilled by the best brew and well-fixed meals. That doesn’t imply that the path to His heart is a mystery. His appetizer is praise served on joyful platters. For main course, a full doze of worship garnished with truth, and for desert, sizzling thanksgiving rounds it up good. Now who can or cannot afford that?

 

We get caught up in our complex worlds and complicated issues, and forget that we have a Father who hungers for our savory meat. In a bid to meet up, we dash out and about each day only to return exhausted, ever hopeful for the right time to really give Him a treat. When is that right time ever going to come? Not until you create it.

 

There is no time designated out there as right. Every time is right though there are better and best times for certain things. It all lies with what we make of each. The popular quote, “Men always ought to pray and not to faint,” does not leave out any time. Neither is there ever any time that we approach the Father with basketsful of gratitude and thanksgiving and He’ll say, “No, no, no, it’s not the right time.” Every time is the right time to express our love and gratitude to Him who keeps us righteously appreciating in a depreciating world.

 

What can you serve Him? The venison that you captured, prepared with the ingredients and spices harvested in your field of experiences. You can’t serve another man’s catch. You are the cook and the steward, and however the meal turns out depends on you. As you go out each day, what kind of venison do you capture for the Father or are all your efforts geared towards satisfying yourself and your family? What about the One that keeps you moving when others are quitting and dying? How come men forget the ever abounding blessings that surge from ministering to their parents?

 

How do you prepare His meals? Do you prepare the King’s banquet with joyfulness and gratitude or with long lists of complaints and yet-to-be-answered prayers? How do you serve the King whenever you do? Do you offer your sacrifices with cheerfulness and thankfulness or with haste and negligence, grumbling through your assignments? Do you starve your Father? Why can’t you make enough time to be with Him and find out what He’s up to? To what end is the grace and love He gives? Whatever happened to the sweet communion of the Holy Spirit? You think life is tough? What would it be without Him, have you ever imagined?

 

The church is choked with programs and we hurry through each service. Personal altars are cold because people are scrambling with choking schedules they cannot afford to spare any time there. Those who try, drop in and jump out, or sag in late, worn by the day’s demands. Life’s demands pull stronger strings in our lives than love for Him who made and sustains us. What a strange way to live in a strange world? Yet we wonder why we are working so hard with so little to show for it, our health and wealth both compromised.

 

Ever since I heard first of Him, Abba has been seeking those who will fill His Almighty stomach with delicious praises and worship, prepared from the precious delicacies of their personal experiences. He is seeking for those who do not wait until the next church program to attend to His hunger, those who are not in hurry to refresh His thirst. As He looks through the maze of hurrying humanity, will He find a faithful worshipper in you today?
