No one is more ignorant than the arrogant
Who flaunts ‘I-don’t-know-and-I-don’t-care’
Like some patrician robe. Ignorance scorns what
Wisdom guards but knowledge is a universal equalizer
That empowers, levels, wiping boundaries.
To the uninformed, prudence is impossible
But wisdom walks hand in hand with knowledge.
When you know and you know that you know
It echoes through your deeds. When you don’t . . .
It shows and those who see often don’t say it.
Our indigence is not the enemy’s fault.
When you know Him who knows it all
Yet humbles Himself for our good, you learn
Knowledge is for building, not for flaunting.
Those who know can dare where others flee
Wrapped in confidence that defies impossible.
How else can one man differ from another
If all they know is same? And how can a man
Not differ, who knows the Omniscient?
Common sense takes us where it leaves the rest
But insight sets one apart and stands him out.

Food for Thought: Have you noticed that whenever someone discovers something that works, everyone flocks there. Even the very creative are swept away – not attempting newer and better discoveries but channeling so much energy into trying to make an original out of an already successful discovery. Yes, they say every one identifies with success but that is not the primary driver here. Instead, it is the longing for success. We all desire to stand out, accomplished at what we do, recognized and commended. Flocking toward success could be revealing the readiness to go the easier and proven way, the unwillingness to take risk associated with the lonely, unknown, uncertain, and unpopular route that original discoverers dare. Yet, nothing beats the indescribable joy of setting ourselves apart to seek, to know, to do, and be known for something that is true and real and original. Knowledge comes to those who seek and sets apart those who persevere long enough to find what many miss to ignorance and impatience. You can borrow the tangible but you can’t borrow knowledge: each man is limited by how much he doesn’t know of what he should and could know.

Scripture: Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Proverbs 4: 7.

Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me to marry my desire to know with willingness to pay the price of consecration as I embrace diligence, seeking sincerely, waiting patiently until I find and excel in that for which I have been called, amen.
